DUNNING TARGETS TIGERS CLASH TO REVERSE FORTUNES

MARK Dunning admits his side were disappointed to come away with nothing from a pulsating West Yorkshire derby – but praises their effort as attention turns to Thursday’s Castleford Tigers clash.
Bradford’s young Reserves held a slender lead heading into the final stages at Stanningley – courtesy of tries from Billy Jowitt and Murphy Smith.
In atrocious conditions, two late Leeds tries broke Bradford hearts to leave the Young Bulls with no reward for their ‘outstanding’ effort and commitment.
A quick turnaround allows the squad to right the wrongs, with Dunning confident his players will work hard to reverse their fortunes.
“It was a really attritious game played in tough conditions but I thought both teams applied themselves really well – we are disappointed but the effort and commitment from the players was outstanding,” said Dunning.
“We were in the exact same position at Hull, pipped in the last minute so there is a lot we can still work on.
“Leeds threw a lot at us but we clawed our way back into the game, weathered the storm and took the lead then the bounce of the ball went to Muizz Mustapha and he went the length of the field.
“I cannot fault their effort, desire and enthusiasm – the non-negotiables we just need to review the bits of smartness but to a man I thought the players were outstanding.
“If we keep working hard we will come through with the results, we will work as hard as we can to make those bounces become our bounces.
“We go again Thursday night against Castleford and it is an opportunity for us to put things right rather than having to wait two weeks to lick our wounds.”
