EMERALD HEADINGLEY PAYS TRIBUTE TO JAMIE JONES-BUCHANAN AND ROB BURROW

BRADFORD Bulls fell to a 34-10 defeat against Leeds Rhinos at an emotional Emerald Headingley Stadium where we paid tribute to two legends of our sport – Jamie Jones-Buchanan and Rob Burrow.

A Rhyse Martin brace saw the home side race into a 10-0 lead in a dominant opening quarter. 

Bradford battled back into the contest and Ross Oakes dived over to reduce the arrears before two quickfire Leeds’ tries saw them establish an 18-point lead at the interval.   

John Kear’s side flew out of the blocks and Thomas Doyle barged his way over before a Callum McLelland try halted the Bradford revival.

Richie Myler then strolled in as the game entered the final ten minutes which was capped by an incredibly emotional entrance by Rob Burrow.

A fast start by the home side saw Martin go over for the game’s first score – Dwyer fending off a would-be tackle to hand off to the PNG international.

Martin started and finished Leeds’ second try, creating an overlap on Bradford’s left edge to dive over.

Bradford began to pressure the home side’s line and that pressure paid dividends when Oakes dived over on the back of a slick passage of play.

Sutcliffe then pounced on a loose ball to stroll over underneath the posts with the home side in the ascendancy prior to half time.

Leeds then went back-to-back as Konrad Hurrell’s offload set the home side clear – with Brad Dwyer diving over.

Bradford capitalised on a Leeds error straight after the interval and they quickly reduced the Rhinos’ lead when Doyle scurried over from dummy half.

Leeds then re-established their lead through McLelland before Myler’s stroll in the left corner.

A series of former Bradford and Leeds stars then entered the action before the Emerald Headingley stood together to show their support for Rob Burrow. A Legend.
