Ethan Ryan admits there is a lot more to come from him in 2019 – having capped off a trophy-laden 2018 campaign with a debut for Ireland Rugby League in this Autumn’s World Cup Qualifiers.

The 22-year-old won the Betfred League One Player of the Year Award, having amassed an incredible 36 tries across the campaign to help John Kear’s side win promotion back to the Betfred Championship.

That scintillating form led to an international call-up for the games against Scotland and Wales, with Ryan notching on debut in the win over Scotland.

Having spoken of his pride at his achievements throughout this year, the winger is looking forward to pre-season and is ready to ‘kick on’ in the red, amber and black.

“It has been a really successful year for me personally, and for the team but to get the call from Stuart [Littler] was a great feeling,” said Ryan.

“To be recognised for all the hard work I have put in this year is great and it was refreshing for me to experience a new environment and it is something I will never forget.

“Going over for a try on debut in front of all my family was a very proud moment and caps a really good year for me.

“Unfortunately we did not qualify this time around but we have another shot next year but now I have a couple of weeks off before I start back training with the lads.

“We achieved that promotion we worked so hard for and it is definitely exciting times for the club and it is a really great place to be at the minute.

“There will be a tough pre-season for us I have no doubt about that but I am looking forward to seeing what next year brings – I am ready to kick on further.”
