John Kear has lauded his side’s discipline and determination as the Bradford Bulls posted a club record 104-0 defeat of West Wales Raiders on Sunday.

The head coach made seven changes to the team that beat Keighley Cougars last time out and watched on as they ran in 19 tries against their dogged Welsh opposition.

Elliot Minchella and the returning Jy Hitchcox both bagged hat-tricks a piece, with Dalton Grant, Ethan Ryan, Callum Bustin and Gregg McNally all notching a brace of tries each.

Sticking to the game plan reaped its rewards according to Kear, who is excited by the futures of a number of young talents in the red, amber and black.

“I am really pleased with what was served up, we were very disciplined and only gave away three penalties in the whole game,” said Kear, who is sponsored by Bradford Bulls Banter.

“We stuck to the structures and the patterns of play we had rehearsed in training and managed to run in 104 points which is pleasing.

“I did not expect us to be so cohesive having made so many changes but a lot of players did themselves some good in terms of being in contention for selection next week.

“We have Oldham on Sunday and I now have a big dilemma in terms of picking the team as we are looking really strong at the minute.

“Having rested a few players with bumps and bruises we go approach the final few games of the season with some momentum and a near fully fit squad.

“Sunday’s game showcased the talent we have in the ranks and some of the younger players have some very bright futures which is incredibly exciting for me to see as their coach.”
