MATTY GEE ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

Earlier this weekend, Matty Gee announced his retirement from Rugby League after a career spanning 11 years.
Matty made his professional bow for North Wales Crusaders in 2014, where he made 10 appearances sandwiching spells at Hunslet and Salford.
2016 saw him make the move to Workington Town, scoring five tries in 20 appearances for the Cumbrians.
His impressive form earned him a move to London Broncos, where a three-year spell in the capital saw him make 71 appearances, scoring 13 tries as part of the side that won promotion back to Super League by beating Toronto Wolfpack in the Million Pound Game.
Matty then made the move to East Hull to make 13 appearances for Hull Kingston Rovers in a season disrupted by the COVID pandemic.
A year's spell at Leigh Centurions (now Leopards) followed before a three-year stay at Halifax Panthers.
Gee made 68 appearances as a Panther which included a successful AB Sundecks 1895 Cup appearance at Wembley, with Simon Grix's side beating Batley Bulldogs in a thriller in 2023.
Matty's final career move saw him arrive at Bartercard Odsal Stadium to wear the red, amber and black of Bradford. His competitive debut against Doncaster in the second round of the Betfred Challenge Cup saw him awarded Heritage Number #1445.
The back-rower scored 7 tries and was widely regarded as one of the club's impressive performers in a year that saw the club clinch a return back to Betfred Super League.
Commenting on his official Instagram account, Matty said:
"Well the time has come to hang the boots up. It’s been a pleasure to live my dream for 12 years and to represent the clubs I have but the time has come that I can start spending more time at home with my family. I’ve played in places all over and had so many unreal experiences over the years.
Wanna thank all the players and staff I’ve worked with over the years, I have made mates for life. I also wanna thank all my family and friends for the support over the years.
I want to thank my beautiful wife for the support couldn’t of been easy doing long distance in London or when we moved to hull. I couldn’t of done it without her
Rl been a pleasure, onto the next chapter"

We would like to congratulate Matty on his superb career and achievements, thank him for his efforts whilst wearing a Bradford shirt and wish him the best of luck with his future endeavours.
