HORROCKS TAKING ON GRUELLING PROJECT 202020

At just 20 years old, Ellie Horrocks from Bradford is proving that age is no limit when it comes to taking on extraordinary challenges—and saving lives along the way. This summer, Ellie is set to become the youngest female ever to run the entire length of the UK, from John O’Groats to Land’s End, covering over 880 miles in just 20 days.

Her mission? To raise funds and awareness for Project 202020—a bold and heartfelt campaign to purchase and place at least 20 defibrillators in local gyms and grassroots sports clubs across the country, one for each day of her run.

“I want to inspire young girls everywhere to dream big,” says Ellie. “You can do anything if you put your mind to it. This project combines my love for pushing physical boundaries with a cause that’s incredibly close to my heart.”

In 2023, Ellie shattered the Guinness World Record for the most chest-to-floor burpees in 24 hours, raising over £10,500 for Blood Cancer UK. But it was a personal experience—an abnormal ECG reading during a triathlon and subsequent heart investigations—that opened her eyes to the urgent need for defibrillators in everyday places.

“As much as I hope these machines are never needed, I know first-hand how vital they can be,” she explains. “If a defib is nearby when someone’s heart stops, it can be the difference between life and death—between a family losing a loved one or getting more time together.”

Ellie’s goal is simple yet powerful: 20 years old, 20 days, 20 defibrillators. Her route will span the entire length of the UK, and each day she hopes to fund and place a defib in a local venue somewhere along the way. Every donation will directly contribute to saving lives in communities that need it most.
