EYE ON THE TIGERS

Ahead of Sunday's mouthwatering clash with Castleford, we take an in-depth look at the Super League outfit...
The Story So Far in 2025
Castleford have not yet featured competitively in 2025 but go into this Sunday’s clash with two pre-season fixtures under their belt. The Tigers made the short trip to the DIY Kitchens Stadium for Luke Gale’s testimonial, with Wakefield emerging as 32-8 victors.
Cas returned home for Joe Westerman’s testimonial last weekend, where they were narrowly beaten by Hull FC, 16-10.
Recruitment
The Tigers have recruited heavily from the Southern Hemisphere for 2025, with no fewer than four players making the move across to West Yorkshire.
Daejarn Asi and Zac Cini joined from Paramatta Eels, Judah Rimbu arrived from PNG Hunters and Jeremiah Simbiken is a former representative of Norths Devils.
Former Bull Dan Okoro has joined Cas on loan for the 2025 season, whilst brothers Louis and Innes Senior both made their initial loan moves permanent.
The Coach
Danny McGuire is entering his first year as a head coach, having taken to the reins following the departure of Craig Lingard following the conclusion of the 2024 season.
McGuire is no stranger to matches at Odsal, having famously represented rivals Leeds Rhinos in his playing career between 2001 and 2017.
McGuire is one of Super League’s most decorated players and now turns his attention to leading the Tigers having spent 2024 as second in command to Lingard.
Club Connections
Rowan Milnes and Alex Mellor are both current Tigers who have previously worn the red, amber and black – having come through the club’s famed Academy system, making their first team debuts in 2018 and 2013 respectively.
Luke Hooley is another Bulls Academy product who is currently at Castleford, though he left the club in 2017 without making a competitive appearance.
The previously mentioned Dan Okoro is another member of Danny McGuire’s squad who has plied his trade in the red, amber and black. Okoro joined the Bulls on loan in 2023 before penning a permanent move for the 2024 season.
Winger Jason Qareqare made two appearances on loan for the Bulls during the 2023 season.
Head 2 Head
The two sides have faced off an astonishing 201 times, since the first meeting in 1926, with the Tigers prevailing on that occasion 37-25.
The Bulls have won 98 of the 201 meetings, with the Tigers winning 94. The last competitive meeting between the two sides came in 2014, with Castleford 32-18 victors at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
The last cup meeting between the two sides came in 2007, with Bradford winning that tie 24-16.
