INTERVIEW | ZAC FULTON

Zac Fulton has praised his team-mates’ ability to ‘dig in’ and work for each other following our 30-4 win over Doncaster in the 2nd Round of the Betfred Challenge Cup last weekend.

The Aussie ace is entering his second year as a Bull and was one of five try scorers to set up a mouthwatering clash with Castleford Tigers in the 3rd Round at Bartercard Odsal.

The 23-year-old made 26 appearances in an impressive debut season, scoring 14 tries to help the Bulls reach two semi-finals.

Now under the guidance of legendary head coach Brian Noble, the former Manly Sea Eagle has called on the side to replicate the intent shown against Super League side Huddersfield Giants, when the Tigers come to town next weekend.

“It was one of the coldest games I’ve ever played in my life! In the conditions the boys were digging in real deep, working for each other, making up for errors. Nobby [Brian Noble] and Greeny [Lee Greenwood] have flogged us and our conditioning is up to the task,” said Fulton, who is sponsored by AJ Priestley Engineering.

“The boys are really having a dig, there is competition for places across the team so we have to play well week in, week out we can’t be winning three and losing one and doing the same again.

“I came relatively late last year but since I’ve come in training has been up to I think an NRL and Super League standard, we have come back and hit the ground running and we have a good side to be challenging Castleford in a couple of weeks.

“We have to bring the same energy we showed at Huddersfield to the Castleford game, we came out and gave it to their middles. We had intent and that’s what we have to do against Castleford, they look sharp so we have to be on our A game and give them a run for their money.

“We will gauge how we did against Doncaster in our effort areas because we always can improve, we will see where it goes from there. You never go into a game to lose and we are confident in our ability.”

Fulton also discussed Brian Noble’s influence on his decision to return to the club after an impressive debut year in 2024.

“One of the reasons I came back was Nobby, he is a real role model at this club and Greeny alongside him is doing his job so it is good to be back and be around the boys again.

“It was good to get home and get some sunshine in but ultimately Brian just said our goals are to go up, that’s where we want to be and I think we can do that in the next year or two. Me and Nobby got along really well last year and he is the main reason I came back, he told me to trust him and I do.”
