BULLS RAMPANT AGAINST THE RAMS
Bradford Bulls made it back-to-back wins with a ruthless nine-try 54-0 victory over Dewsbury Rams at Bartercard Odsal last night.
Eamon O’Carroll was able to recall on the likes of Ebon Scurr, Lee Gaskell and Daniel Smith following injuries and the latter duo made an instant impact.
Gaskell’s high kick was palmed backwards and the half-back ended up back in possession, giving Smith a stroll in under the posts.
Dewsbury defended resiliently and the Bulls didn’t have it all their own way in the first half, but a spectacular length of the field effort from Tom Holmes nudged Bradford further ahead.
The home side raced out of the starting blocks in the second half and a typically powerful effort from Franklin Pele saw him carry numerous Dewsbury defenders over the line.
Tyran Ott then grabbed his first try in the red, amber and black, darting over on the back of a quick ruck after Pele caused more destruction.
Pele was over again soon after in stunning fashion, taking the ball on the left wing and swatting away three would-be defenders to touch down for his second of the evening.
Smith then sent fellow returnee Ebon Scurr over with the Bulls rampant in the second 40 and whilst those returning from injury certainly impressed, a man on debut was next to make his mark.
Romain Franco, making his first appearance since joining the club on loan from Wakefield Trinity, grabbed two tries in two minutes.
For the first, a short side play saw Franco poke his nose through the Dewsbury defence and stretch out to score.
And then from the restart, the Frenchman collected a loose ball and raced 60 metres to score again.
But the final act came from fans’ favourite Keven Appo, who scored via a typically powerful effort from close range on the hooter.
