FAMILY AFFAIR AT WHEELCHAIR TRAINING

Three parent and child partnerships took to training for the Bradford Bulls Wheelchair team yesterday evening!

Matching the feats of Rhett & Keiron Johnson, as well as first teamers George Flanagan Junior & Senior, there was no shortage of family connections last night.

Shelly Hawkins trained alongside her son Rob, who was a member of England's World Cup winning Wheelchair team. The duo are training with the team and passing on their expertise on the back of their incredible success in 2022.

Anthony Sheldrake and his son George also took part, with Anthony a former player for the Wheelchair team, last year's success has inspired him to take to the chair and pass on his talent to the next generation!

Finally, there was Richard Wright and son Nathaniel, both joined in the first taster session towards the end of last year and have now signed up to become official members of the team.

Chris Chamberlain CEO of Bradford Bulls Foundation commented "It’s great to see how inclusive the game of Rugby League is with the parent and child partnerships within the squad. On the back of last season’s successful wheelchair team, who were crowned champions, and the recent success of the England Rugby League World cup team, there has been an increase in awareness of the Bulls wheelchair team, with an influx of high-quality players for the 2023 season. All home games and training sessions will be held at the Sedbergh sports facilities in Bradford throughout the 2023 season."
