MATCH REPORT | BATLEY BULLDOGS (A)

Read our Match Report from our Round 26 fixture at the Fox's Biscuits Stadium.

The home side started with intent, and several penalties allowed them up field which saw them cross for the opening try.

Ben White saw a gap in the Bradford defence and raced through to score, with Gilmore adding the extras.

Another score came soon as Dale Morton grabbed hold of a looping pass to touch down in the corner.

There was initial rest bite for Bradford, as we camped Batley on their own line and made them defend, with a try of our own soon coming.

Jacob Hookem spotted a gap in the Batley line and fired a pass into the hands of Chester Butler who scored his second try in two games.

Bradford came again with more pressure as Jacob Hookem once again caused issues, with this kick being grounded in goal by Hooley, a goal line drop out following.

We couldn't make it count, however as stern Batley defence kept us at bay.

Tom Gilmore slotted over four points from his boot before the hooter, as Batley were awarded penalties on numerous occasions.

Bradford held the Bulldogs out on numerous occasions, but discipline was the killer for Mark Dunning’s men on this afternoon.

After the break, Batley took a stranglehold on proceedings as they ran in three tries in quick succession.

Myles Lawford also did not return for the second half with a suspected arm injury, with Samy Kibula and Chester Butler also not returning with luck not on Bradford’s side.

Luke Hooley, the former academy product raced in with two tries either side of a Dane Manning score.

Another former Bull in Lucas Walshaw then crashed over despite the best efforts of the Bradford defence, as the home side turned the screw in the second half of the game.

Sam Hallas grabbed a consolation try for the Bulls, on an afternoon to forget with our side being left with one fit interchange for 40 minutes.

The boys gave a real dig with George Flanagan playing 70 minutes, but the interchange advantage told in the end with Batley proving too strong.
