MATCH REPORT | WHITEHAVEN RLFC

Match Report from our defeat to Whitehaven at Odsal Stadium.

Both teams started with great intensity in the Odsal heat, but neither side found a way over the try line early on.

Haven half Nikau Williams, then darted his way to the Bradford line, and crashed over for the opening score.

Kieran Gill then would have a try disallowed for an apparent double movement, much to the anger of the home fans.

A dribble kick from Williams then bounced around and fell into the hands of Will Evans, who barged his way to the line and scored, doubling Whitehaven’s lead.

Another try was then chalked off, as George Flanagan spun his way over the line and touched down in usual fashion, but again it was disallowed.

Kieran Gill was hit late, but in the action of taking the tackle reached out and scored to reduce the arrears seconds after the restart.

Bradford then went close on several occasions, as Ant Walker raced onto a short ball, but in the process of crossing the line lost it on contact.

Plenty of possession came Bradford's way, with penalties and errors helping them up the field, but it wasn't to be as chances came and went as the clock ticked down.

With minutes remaining, Ryan Millar raced down the wing and looked to find Gill on his inside for his second, but was pulled into touch at the last second.

In the final moments of the game, with Mark Dunning’s men pushing hard to find the equalising score, a slip caused a Whitehaven penalty and Williams pointed for the two points.

Nikau Williams slotted the ball over and condemned Bradford to a home loss, with the visitors securing Championship safety for another season.
