KEAR LOOKS AHEAD TO CENTURIONS CHALLENGE

Bradford boss John Kear insists he and his side are relishing the impending challenge of a trip to tackle Leigh Centurions on Monday evening.

Both sides go into the clash on the back of defeats, having racked up comprehensive wins in Round One. 

The game – which is being streamed LIVE on Premier Sports – represents Bradford’s first taste of Monday Night Rugby League in the latest blockbuster showing. 

And head coach Kear believes his side can take the lessons they’ve learned into Monday’s clash with a ‘Super League’ standard team in Adrian Lam’s Centurions. 

“After the early part of the week, training has been very Leigh specific and we look forward to the challenge of going and putting in a great performance and being competitive,” said Kear, who is sponsored by HF Wealth. 

“One of the errors we made last week, like Leigh against Featherstone, we both came off great wins when they racked up plenty of points and the same with us at Dewsbury.

“We tried to play in the wrong conditions, I am not an advocate of five drives and a kick but sometimes that has to happen, if its hammering down it’s that way to play and we didn’t adapt to the conditions but that is something we’ve learned but the conditions will make it a better game. 

“Sam Scott is back in contention, Dan Fleming is suspended so he will be missing but some of those playing tomorrow could also be in the squad. 

“With it being a trial fixture they don’t have to play all of the game, as long as they have been involved and aren’t injured they could be in with a shout.

“We are going to a Super League standard stadium, to face a Super League standard team and it is a challenge we can enjoy and relish – the pressure is off us and we go there as underdogs so we are hoping to go and put in a performance.”
