MYERS JOINS THE BULLS

We are delighted to announce the signing of Eldon Myers on a two-year deal – meaning he will be a Bull until at least the end of the 2023 campaign!

Myers, who joins immediately and becomes in contention for selection on Sunday, is a former Hull FC trialist and plays as an outside back.

The 24-year-old couldn’t take up a two-year deal offered by the Aerlie Birds at the time due to being a serving member of the Royal Navy.

Myers is now eligible to feature against Widnes Vikings and is chomping at the bit to get started.

“It feels good to finally be down here – it has been a long time coming and finally putting pen to paper and getting involved is great,” said Myers.

“I got contacted around December time about this season but unfortunately I couldn’t get signed off from work to come here but thankfully I am able to come down and catch the back end of the season.

“I cannot wait to get started, it will be nice to get out there and play some decent rugby and going back to work after my trial at Hull – to play no rugby with COVID was a nightmare so to be getting back involved and getting back out there will be class.

“It has been class to have someone who wanted me and to be getting messages from Mark all the time to keep at me to make sure I come down has been good.

“I like to be physical and playing open rugby – I like getting involved and if I can score tries I will, I used to be fast and hopefully it won’t take long for that to come back!”

Bradford boss John Kear believes his side have managed to pull off a real coup in securing Myers’ signature.

“Eldon has played a good standard of Rugby Union with the Navy, Lee Radford spotted him as he did with numerous players and took him to Hull FC for a trial,” said Kear, who is sponsored by Bradford Bulls Banter.

“He wanted to sign him but the RAF wouldn’t release him - he has since left the Navy and we moved in and half him for the remainder of 2021 and two more years.

“I am really excited I think he is a great athlete, tough, strong and will certainly add some strike to the three quarters.

“We have spoken to some members of the Castleford staff and they feel we have done a good job in getting him over the line.

“Eldon will do a great job think the fans will love him as they see him lots of improvement to come but he is a very good player at this moment in time.”
