BULLS WIN FOR THREE ON THE SPIN

Bradford Bulls made it three wins on the spin with a 36-18 defeat of York City Knights - with Rhys Evans scoring a hat trick of tries!

Jordan Lilley opened the scoring – slicing through the home defence before Ben Evans burrowed his way over for his third try of the season. 

York hit back through Ryan Atkins but Bradford re-established their advantage with Rhys Evans’ first of the afternoon.

Lilley turned provider from scorer for Evans’ second soon after the break before James Green and Danny Kirmond brought York within a score. 

Bradford finished strongly however and Dee Foggin-Johnston pounced on a loose ball, prior to Evans’ acrobatic effort to seal a third successive win. 

Head Coach John Kear welcomed back influential half Danny Brough, and the former Super League man made his mark with immediate effect. 

After the five tackles were complete, he sent a high bomb which York back McGowen spilled, and on the resulting set Brough sent Lilley through a gap to score. 

Moments later, another attack on the Knights line saw Ben Evans crash over for his third try of the season to extend the lead. 

York found themselves back in the game, through Atkins as a gap opened for him to twist and turn over. 

However, Brough, once again sent a low but long kick across the line which found Rhys Evans, who raced through the York line to score. 

With minutes remaining before the break, Bradford were awarded a penalty and Brough added the two. 

The second half started the same as the first, with Rhys Evans extending Bradford’s lead with his second try after good work from Lilley. 

York grabbed two of their own, through Green and Kirmond, which brought the scores closer with a quarter of the game remaining. 

The latter breaking through the Bradford line to race away and score underneath the posts, with Kieran Dixon adding on the extras. 

With a nervy final 10 minutes ensuring, Bradford took matters into their own hands and sealed the game through two tries. 

The first, through great work again from Danny Brough as he floated a wide ball over to Foggin-Johnston who touched down. 

The second and final try came through Rhys Evans, who sealed a superb hat-trick as he raced in at the corner.
