IMPROVEMENT NEEDED AHEAD OF VIKINGS VISIT

JOHN Kear admits a big improvement is required ahead of Widnes Vikings’ visit to Odsal Stadium in Round 11 – having seen his side’s seven-match winning run come to an end yesterday afternoon.

The Bulls toiled in the heat as the unbeaten Featherstone Rovers scored eight tries without reply on a difficult afternoon in the Millennium Stadium.

Kear’s charges are without a fixture this weekend following the cancellation of the away trip to Toulouse Olympique due to the Coronavirus restrictions.

And the Bradford boss believes a ‘tough review’ will give the players plenty to stew over ahead of their next game in 13 days time.

“I wasn’t satisfied with any aspect of that game we were awful – I cannot see any positives and the players will have a really tough review on Tuesday,” said Kear, who is sponsored by Bradford Bulls Banter.

“We need to freshen up and go forward, we need to nurse our bumps and bruises and quickly look at this game because two weeks is not a long time but it will give the players plenty to stew over.

“I watched the Featherstone v Widnes game and Widnes could have won that so if we play like we did today it could be another long afternoon.

“The beauty of video is you can show the players where you need to smarten up but there are certainly a lot of areas to smarten up this week.

“The dressing room is very subdued as we let ourselves down – my responsibility now is to address any loss in confidence as they have had the stuffing knocked out of them.”
