A HOST of former Bradford Bulls stars last night returned to the Provident Stadium to celebrate the Dinner of the Decade.
Legends including Lesley Vainikolo, Shontayne Hape, Paul Deacon and Stuart Fielden joined over 200 guests in the Legends Suite for what proved to be a night to remember.
The dinner was designed to mark the 10th anniversary of Bradford's 2004 World Club Challenge success – the culmination of a treble-winning season in 2003.
That year, the Bulls claimed a Super League title, a Challenge Cup crown and the first-ever League Leaders Shield, before upsetting the odds to overcome NRL champions Penrith Panthers ahead of their 2004 campaign.
Chief executive Robbie Hunter-Paul, head coach James Lowes and club captain Matt Diskin were also in attendance, in addition to Paul Johnson, Karl Pratt, Rob Parker and Nathan McAvoy – ex-Odsal stars who all played their part in the club's golden era.
While tucking into a stunning three-course meal, guests were able to enjoy footage from all three of the Bulls 2003 and 2004 trophy campaigns, before hearing from members of those teams as Hunter-Paul went one-on-one with some of the game's most famous names.
Lowes, Parker, Vainikolo, Hape, Deacon and Fielden spoke of the special memories made during their time with the club, picking out highlights, tries and, of course, the fun had during those record-breaking 12 months.
Hunter-Paul said: “The event was absolutely fantastic and it was great to have so many famous faces back at the Provident Stadium.
“What we achieved as a team in that period was something quite incredible, so we were all delighted to be able to share some it with our supporters and partners.
“Some of the boys shared never before heard personal insight into their experience of that campaign and it certainly brought back some special memories for everyone in the room.
“I am delighted to say we will be producing a video in the coming days, meaning all of our supporters will be able to see what we enjoyed on Friday evening.”
You will be able to view the Dinner of the Decade – and a host of exclusive interviews from the night – very soon, with DVDs becoming available for purchase in due course.
A gallery of images from the event will be published on our Facebook page next week.
