VERSATILE ADDY: 'WE MUST START BIG'

DANNY ADDY insists the Bulls must “start big” on Sunday afternoon in order to overcome former Bradford star Paul Anderson's Huddersfield Giants.

James Lowes' men were forced to battle back on Merseyside last Friday, which left the versatile talent wondering what might have been as the Bulls scored a quartet of impressive tries.

This weekend, Bradford face a Giants team sitting sixth on the First:Utility Super League ladder and smarting from successive defeats.

“We got off to a really slow start last week but to come back and score 22 points against a team like Saints, we should be proud of ourselves," said Addy, who is sponsored by Ian and Lisa Harrison.

“There is always spirit in our camp but we have spoken too often now about hitting the ground running and then not delivered.

“We started slowly again last Friday and you cannot do that against a team like Saints.

“We have to start big against Huddersfield on Sunday, or else risk facing another mountain to climb.

"If we had started better we might have turned St Helens over but we let them score too many points early on.”

Addy featured in the Bulls' front row for a period against the Saints, having been introduced from the interchange bench in the first half.

Though arguably more accustomed to life in the back row, Addy – who has featured across the park in recent years – is more than happy to provide coach Lowes with a range of options.

“I find front row similar to loose forward, which is where I want to be playing, so I don't really mind it,” explained the Scotland international.

“I don't mind where I play as long as I get some minutes under my belt.

“I think I have played in every position except wing and full back now, but it doesn't bother me.

“I love this club and am really enjoying working with James Lowes. He has given us a kick up the backside and I believe we are improving every week.”

Tickets for Sunday's trip to Huddersfield Giants are now available, priced at £21 (adults), £15 (concessions) and £5 (juniors).
