“The excitement of Friday Night Fight Night will be kicked off by the launch of this special new jersey.

“It will also mark the start of what looks set to be an exciting three-game series, our very own 'State of Origin', against the men in blue and white.”

THE build-up to yesterday’s clash saw James Lowes call for further improvement from his side and the Bradford head coach believes the Bulls delivered in their 36-6 victory over Workington Town yesterday.

A fast start saw Jay Pitts, Jake Mullaney and Danny Williams all cross the whitewash during the first half, as the hosts rallied in difficult conditions at the Provident Stadium, Odsal.

The visitors hit back after the interval but Gaskell cemented his man-of-the-match performance with a try of his own, sealing Bradford's fifth-straight success, as Adam Henry and Williams completed braces.

It was a second win recorded in as many weeks against Workington, the side the Bulls dumped out of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup in round four.

“I was critical of some of the things we did last week but thought we did better this time around,” said Lowes, who is sponsored in memory of Joyce Dobby.

“We were much improved defensively, meaning Workington did not get much out of us.

“And I thought our kicking game was solid, particularly during the first half.

“We let them off the hook at times in terms of errors and penalties conceded but, generally, I thought our performance was better.

“The conditions were tough but you cannot let that get in the way of a performance. The errors we did make were not caused by the weather.

“I thought everyone had a good yesterday. We did well as a team.”

Lowes’ men enter Friday Night Fight Night – The Battle For West Yorkshire, the eagerly-anticipated derby tie against Halifax, hoping to extend their winning win.

Their Calderdale opponents, meanwhile, enter having narrowly lost out to London Broncos last time out.

“I played in many games against Halifax during my time here as a player and they were always fantastic contests,” added Lowes.

“As a player, you want to play in the big games and I am sure the boys will be up for the test.

“Bragging rights are at stake and I know our supporters will turn out in force for what will be a brilliant spectacle for everyone concerned.”

Tickets for the Kingstone Press Championship round-seven contest are now available and can be purchased NOW by CLICKING HERE.
