BRADFORD BULLS battled bravely before going down to a narrow defeat at the hands of First:Utility Super League play-off contenders Hull Kingston Rovers, in round five of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup.

A blistering start to the contest saw James Lowes' men register successive scores, moving them into an early lead.

However, it was the travelling Rovers who led at the break, thanks to a trio of quick-fire tries.

The second half continued in a similar vein, with both the Bulls and Hull KR trading tries.

Back-to-back scores moved the home side into the lead with little more than a quarter of an hour remaining at the Provident Stadium, Odsal.

But the Robins finished the stronger and prevailed, as winger Josh Mantellato racked up 30 points – kicking seven goals and bagging four tries – to end Bradford's hopes.
