YOUNGSTER Nathan Conroy has joined Bradford Bulls’ Kingstone Press Championship neighbours Dewsbury Rams on loan.

The 20-year-old hooker will spend the next month at the Tetley’s Stadium but will not be able to face his parent club when James Lowes’ men host the Rams on Sunday June 14.

Head coach Lowes hopes Conroy, who is sponsored by Schofield Sweeney,  can gain much-needed game-time during his loan spell – which commences with immediate effect.

“Given the amount of competition for places we have here, Nathan’s opportunities are proving limited,” said Lowes, who is sponsored in memory of Joyce Dobby.

“I am not of a fan of changing a team around if players are playing well and Adam O’Brien is doing a very good job.

“But I am mindful of the fact that Nathan needs to be playing and maintaining match fitness for when opportunities present themselves.

“He is a great guy and a talented player, so I am sure he will go well with Dewsbury and I wish him well.”

Conroy could feature this weekend when the Rams take on Heavy Woollen rivals Batley Bulldogs at the Summer Bash.

Unreserved tickets for the Bulls’ Saturday battle with Halifax are on sale until 5.00pm TODAY!

EMMERDALE’S Duncan Preston is loving life as an 1863 Member, insisting there is “no better time” to be getting behind Bradford Bulls.

A long-standing supporter, Preston joined The 1863 Members Club following its launch last year.

And the Bradford-born soap star believes this is just the start as the Bulls continue their promotion charge.

“For me, this is the best time in almost 10 years to be watching the Bulls and I would urge as many people as possible to become members,” said Mr Preston.

“The 1863 Membership offers fantastic value for money, with everything going on, and it promises to get better and better going into next season.

“And for the first time in a long time, there is a real energy about the place – a real buzz.

“I have been a huge supporter of the club for over 60 years, both Bradford Bulls and Northern have been a massive part of my life.

“I could not be happier at the moment. It is fantastic to see the club heading in the right direction and I am thrilled with the progress being made, both on and off the field.

“The improvements being made to the stadium are absolutely fantastic, particularly in the Conference & Banqueting Facility.

“The work done in there is superb and the new Pavilion Bar is something else.

“On the field, things are going very well. The team is progressing brilliantly and everyone is excited going into the Super 8s.

“Leigh started the season very well but the tide, I believe, is turning and it will all come down to the business end of the campaign.

“James Lowes is undoubtedly the right man for the job – he is the man to help Bradford back into Super League.

“He has put together a squad that can more than cope with top-flight opposition, in my opinion, and it is continuing to improve and evolve.”

HALIFAX-BORN hooker Adam O’Brien feels form will go out of the window when Bradford Bulls take on his hometown club at the Summer Bash in Blackpool on Saturday (7.00pm).

O’Brien, who broke through into the Bulls’ first-team in 2011, will face Halifax for the third time in his career on Saturday.

The former England Academy player says the unique nature of Saturday night’s Bloomfield Road clash will mean recent league form will be irrelevant for both teams.

“I think everything will go out of the window on Saturday night,” said O'Brien, who is sponsored by the Monro Family.

“It’ll be down to the 80 minutes, and who can perform better. They gave us a good test on Good Friday at the Provident Stadium, Odsal, but we managed to pull away in the last 20 minutes or so.

“We’ve got to train hard for the rest of the week to make sure that we’re ready for it. It should be a really good game which we’re all looking forward to.”

The Bulls, who were relegated from Super League last year, haven’t lost a league game since the opening weekend of the Kingstone Press Championship season.

Having featured in Magic Weekend fixtures for Bradford, O’Brien believes that the Summer Bash will be good for the sport.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to play in some Magic Weekend games and I always enjoyed them,” he added.

“The Summer Bash will be good for the game. We’ve seen how well it’s done in Super League to have every team play over one weekend at one venue. Hopefully the fans can get down there to make it an enjoyable weekend.”

Remember, you have until 5.00pm TODAY to secure reserved tickets for the Summer Bash.

From tomorrow, up until the close of play on Friday, only unreserved day and weekend tickets will be up for grabs.

With over 2,000 Bulls supporters already set to attend the inaugural Bash, this is an event you cannot afford to miss!
