BRADFORD BULLS fell to a hefty 66-10 defeat at the hands of Castleford Tigers in their final pre-season outing of 2014.
The contest provided a dress rehearsal for Francis Cummins' side ahead of the new First Utility Super League season, which begins against the Tigers in two weeks' time.
However, it proved a testing afternoon for the Bulls as visitors Castleford ran in 10-unanswered tries to seal an emphatic friendly triumph.
The Tigers raced into an early lead through Australian full-back Luke Dorn, whose early effort was improved by Kirk Dixon.
Bradford hit back almost immediately, though, as Elliot Kear finished superbly following an impressive succession of passes – which tore the Tigers in two.
Jamie Foster's conversion attempt swung wide of the mark, from the touchline, meaning the score remained 6-4 to Castleford.
But the Bulls proved unable to kick on – and Daryl Powell's Tigers extended their advantage through wingman Dixon.
The hosts drew level just shy of the half-hour when a sublime Luke Gale ball sent prop-forward Nick Scruton powering over from close range.
Foster was this time on target with the conversion attempt, making it 10-10.
But the Bulls' fightback soon ground to a halt as the Tigers took full control, heading into half-time with a 16-point lead intact thanks to a pair of tries from Daryl Clark and a third from Richard Owen.
Castleford picked up from where they had left off after the interval, quickly adding to their tally via Michael Shenton and Weller Hauraki.
And the Tigers added to their opposition's woes, racking up a total of 12 tries as Hauraki scored again and Dixon – who bagged a total of 30 points – sealed a terrific hat-trick.
Further scores came courtesy of Adam Milner and Frankie Mariano, sealing the hosts' fate.
