A stop-start affair on the smallest pitch recorded in the professional game saw Bradford claim a 68-0 victory over Hemel Stags in the 11th round of the Betfred League 1 competition.

Battling with the Stags on a field 91 metres long and 60 wide, attacking was at a premium with defence aided by the restraints of the field.

Bradford gained an early lead through Dane Chisholm, as the Aussie’s show and go on the face of the line created space for him to charge through and score in the corner.

The Bulls posted their second try with Matthew Garside as he latched onto Chisholm’s delayed pass, combined with his damaging run, taking him over the line.

On his third effort, Ross Peltier barged his way over for his fifth try of the year. Flanagan’s pass out of the back allowed the imposing prop to charge up his run and burst through the line like a man possessed.

Prior to the halftime break, Flanagan added an extra four points following the conversion from Chisholm, as his classic show and go in front of the line fooled the markers and gave him room to touch down under the posts.

As the second half began, Ethan Ryan claimed his first try of the game with Elliot Minchella quickly following suit.

Ryan leapt over his opposing number in the corner, somehow managing to keep hold of the ball and touch down for the score in emphatic fashion.

With an eye for the line, Minchella coolly avoided the on-rushing defender, stepped around the next and darted to the line for the try.

Brandon Pickersgill posted his third try of the season as his looping run around the line from his 20m mark created a gap for the fullback to take it down the left flank and all the way to the house.

Minchella claimed a second-half brace as the utility man dove over in the corner in tremendous style.

Pickersgill’s cross-field kick was batted down by Liam Johnson, straight into the hands of Minchella, allowing him to make his way to the line for the score.

In a game which was difficult for wingers with the tight side-lines, Dalton Grant cropped up in the closing ten minutes to claim a brace.

Giving the call to Pickersgill to put in the cross-field kick, the Welsh international leapt over his opposing number with pace and touched down in the corner.

Moments later he claimed his second. The cross-field kick, this time from Minchella, was fumbled in the air by the Hemel winger, allowing Grant to pick up the loose ball and walk in for his second.

Picking up his second try in the Red Amber and Black strip, James Laithwaite darted to the line after latching onto Pickersgill’s delayed pass.

Rounding off an impressive afternoon for the Bulls, Vila Halafihi took the ball from dummy-half and scooted over the line for the final say of the day.
