Matt is a product of the Dewsbury Moor Amateur club and joined Leeds Rhinos as a sixteen year old in 1998, making his debut in 2001. He represented Yorkshire in the Origin game before Captaining England in the European Nations Tournament. He was named Man of the Match in the 2004 Grand Final against the Bulls and he was named in the Gt. Britain Squad for that year’s Tri Nations. Unfortunately he suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament on his GB debut, an injury that resulted in him missing the first five months of the 2005 season. Matt is the ideal foil for Heath L’Estrange and his constant probing from Dummy Half sets up many of the Bulls plays. He is a great leader and sets an example in every game he plays.
