BRANDON Pickersgill insists his side will look to ramp up the pressure on the Betfred Championship top five – having kept their play-off hopes alive with an emphatic win at Barrow Raiders on Sunday.

Having recovered from a dead leg, the full-back has impressed against Toronto and Barrow – scoring his sixth try of the season in Cumbria on Sunday.

In a game played in difficult conditions, John Kear’s side came out on drop as they ran in eight tries to return to winning ways to keep their play off hopes alive.

Pickersgill believes the squad’s ability to handle the conditions proved key – as a first-half surge put Barrow to the sword.

“We always knew it was going to be tough, but I thought we handled their challenges well and came through the other side," said Pickersgill, who is sponsored by Stuart Readyhough – Maclean and Company Accountants.

“We’re a bit disappointed about how many we conceded but I think if you’d have given me the score line we came out with I’d have taken it.

“It’s very tough to come up here, the travel gets to you, the wind was all over but I thought we dealt with it well.

“It was a massively different team from the last time I played here and I thought the more senior boys really stood up and gave a good performance today.

“We’ve ticked another one off today and we need three more wins now, we just hope that a team above can slip up and that maybe opens it up for us.

“All we can do now is take every game as it takes and today is a good win for us and it also helps the points difference.”
