Bradford Bulls are pleased to announce the signing of James Green on loan from Castleford Tigers until the end of the season.

Learning his trade at hometown club, Hull Kingston Rovers, the imposing 6ft 6’ man is a powerhouse in the pack and will complement an already powerful set of forwards.

Spending time in Super League with Hull Kingston Rovers, Leigh Centurions and Castleford Tigers, the 27-year-old will bring a wealth experience to the forwards and will be sponsored by Vicki and Greame Sharp for the remainder of 2018.

As part of the deal, hooker Reiss Butterworth will join the Tigers on a loan deal until the end of the season – Giving him the chance to gain valuable experience in another premium training facility

“I think it benefits everybody. James Green is an established prop forward that has a wide range of experience,” said John Kear, who is sponsored by Bradford Bulls Banter.

“He has played at some good clubs and he will add something to us as a group, especially when you realise the immediacy is Hunslet away and York at home. To have someone of his caliber come in for those two games is really important.

“I had James Green in the middle of a big set at Batley, so you may well see a theme emerging because I think if you can get a big middle unit that can get you going forward then your half-backs can play off the back of that and your guys on the edges can finish.

“What we are trying to do is firstly, build a team that wins us promotion from League one, and secondly, once we get promotion, we want to be very competitive at the very top end of Championship.

“Reiss I feel will also benefit from his loan spell for the rest of the season as he will be mentored by Paul McShane who is a decent player and have  Darrel Powell, Ryan Sheridan and Danny Orr’s input as well.

“I think it is win-win all round; we will certainly gain with the addition of the first team player but Reiss also will gain with the input of some highly intelligent coaches as well as a highly rated first team player.”
