Bradford Bulls

John Kear has hailed the mentality of his Bradford Bulls players as they continue their unbeaten start to the season with a 54-6 demolition of West Yorkshire rivals Keighley Cougars.

Ex-Cougar Ross Peltier bagged his first try of the season, with George Flanagan touching down twice to mark a memorable debut for the Bradford Academy product.

The visitors were rampant throughout in a dominant display, running in nine tries to swat away their neighbours with ease.

And with three wins from three so far in 2018, the 63-year-old is delighted with the improvement of his players but believes there is a lot more to come.

“I sensed in the changing room beforehand the lads were right up for the game and we won it within the first 30 minutes I felt,” said Kear, who is sponsored by Bradford Bulls Banter.

“Keighley hung on in there, but it took a lot out of them to repel us and we took advantage of that second half.

“We were very disciplined, played some great rugby and all 17 contributed to what is a huge step forward for us.

“It shows where we are now at as a group, the improvements we have made since the York game are there for all to see.

“We now look a better team and the work ethic of the lads is behind that, I am very happy indeed with the performance and the result.

“We are getting used to our combinations, we looked very solid in defence and now I have more selection headaches for the trip to Hunslet in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup next week!”
