Bradford Bulls

Leigh Beattie has called on the Bradford Bulls Reserves to seize their opportunity to impress and push for a place in the first team as they take on Keighley Cougars this evening.

This season features the return of reserve grade rugby and Beattie’s men lost out to Leeds Rhinos last time out despite a spirited performance.

Matthew Storton and Vytas Vaznys are both set to feature following spells on the sidelines, in what promises to be a hotly-contested affair at Dudley Hill RLFC’s home field.

With a number of young players featuring in pre-season, first team head coach John Kear has shown if they are good enough they are old enough, a mentality which should add further motivation to the Young Bulls, according to Beattie.

“The return of reserve grade rugby is massive for us and it is full credit to Andrew and staff for making it happen,” said Kear’s Assistant Coach, Beattie, who is sponsored by BullBuilder for 2018.

“It creates an essential pathway for the younger players to develop by playing rugby against grown men.

“You can do all the training you like but there is no better way to develop by just getting out onto the field.

“Tonight’s game is a great opportunity for the boys to impress, we have a few players who should be looking at pushing for a place in John’s side across the coming weeks and months.

“The likes of Matty (Storton) and Vytas (Vaznys) will all get game-time after injuries and we will be looking to put in a really strong performance.

“With the Academy as strong as ever and the first team looking healthy, the future looks bright for us”

Come down to Dudley Hill RLFC this evening (kick-off 7:30 pm) to cheer the side on in the inaugural reserve grade game!
