PELTIER READY TO SET BENCHMARK AGAINST FORMER CLUB
Ross Peltier has called on his team-mates to lay down a marker ahead of the upcoming Betfred League One campaign - as he prepares to face his former club Keighley Cougars tomorrow afternoon.
A Jamaican international, Peltier knows all too well the threat the likes of the Cougars can poses, having spent three years at Cougar Park prior to his Provident Stadium move.
The fixture represents the final pre-season outing for John Kear’s squad, with wins against Halifax RLFC and Sheffield Eagles the reward of an intense winter schedule.
And with the eagerly anticipated opening round clash against York City Knights on the horizon, the prop has urged those in Red, Amber and Black to strike an early psychological blow.
“It has been a long pre-season, we have been busier than normal and end with a tough game against Keighley on Sunday,” said Peltier, who is sponsored by Captain Hornblower, Carol and Tony in 2018.
“We have learnt the lessons from the Toronto game and it will be good to wrap up pre-season against Keighley and show what we have learned.
“He (Kear) has kept it simple, gone back to basics and instilled a good attitude and mentality amongst the boys.
“It is a big game and a massive benchmark for us, a big performance will remove any doubts as to what we can achieve this year.
“We want to end on a high the best we can and head into the York game next week full of confidence.”
