Bradford Bulls

Bradford Bull's forward Jamel Goodall has described life as "surreal" after signing a contract extension until the end of 2019.

The 20-year-old, sponsored by Stuart Readyhough at Maclean and Company Accountants, joined the side as a trialist before earning a professional contract and is committed to continuing his development at the club.

“I’d like to think I’ll be here for a long time, to develop and get the Bulls to where they should be at the top,” said Goodall.

Goodall’s extension caps a meteoric rise as just 12-months ago he was part of the Bull’s faithful cheering on his now teammates.

“I was at the Keighley game the last pre-season watching Ross (Peltier) getting chased by that goose, now I’m alongside him being cheered on by the fans, the support has been great.”

Goodall’s attention now turns to impressing the coaching staff and working his way into the side ahead of the start of the season.

With John Kear at the helm, Goodall spoke about how helpful the experienced head coach can be in training.

“Everything he says is positive, even if you do something negative he’ll encourage you to keep pushing and improve.”

“He builds you up and makes you think yeah I can do it as oppose to ‘oh great I have to do this’.”

The Jamaican International is thrilled to be operating alongside fellow forwards, Steve Crossley and Ross Peltier as the duo will help Goodall enhance his development as a player.

“They give you that bit of schooling in training, you’re not going to get it all easy but they’re always there to give tips and support on the back of it.”

With the addition of Super League caliber players such as Gregg McNally to the squad, Goodall is hopeful for the season ahead.

“Bringing in players with experience at big clubs is great, it helps the younger players who want to be where they’ve been, and hopefully we can put it all together for this season.”

Watch Goodall in action this weekend as we host Keighley Cougars for the Joe Phillips Memorial Trophy at the Provident Stadium – kick-off 3.00pm.
