Bradford Bulls bowed out of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup after a tough physical battle in terrible weather conditions against Featherstone Roves.

Rovers came out triumphant 21-13 at the Provident Stadium in a match where young Bull, Evan Hodgson scored on his professional debut.

The opening half saw Bradford kept to a scoreless opening forty minutes as both teams were struggling to maintain possession of the ball due to the adverse weather conditions.

Josh Hardcastle was the first on the score sheet for Featherstone, taking advantage of an early Bradford error on their ten-meter line, scooping the ball up to dive over.

The beginning of the second half saw Bradford come out with high efforts to dampen the Featherstone lead.

The opening few minutes saw Bradford build pressure, that led to the opening try of the second half, coming from debutant, Evan Hodgson.

The 18-year-old, who played seventy-five minutes of the tough fixture, received a pass from Leon Pryce on the 20-meter line. His initiative saw the forward step two of the Featherstone players to dive over for his first try of his career.

The visitors rapidly fought back, with a drop goal from the boot of Kyle Briggs to regain the lead, although Joe Keyes quickly replied with one of his own.

Following Keyes’ drop goal, former Bull Jason Walton broke the line after a fast piece of play from Rovers, fighting his way over in a two-man tackle.

Bradford, stricken with injuries kept on battling to the final minutes and even when Ian Hardman scored late on, they kept on going. Keyes was instrumental again and kicked through for Campbell to score on the hooter.
