DFJ PENS NEW DEAL

Bradford Bulls are delighted to announce David Foggin-Johnston has put pen-to-paper on a new one-year deal!

The winger has enjoyed his most prolific year to date, scoring nine tries to help John Kear’s side book a play off berth.

He becomes the 18th confirmed member of Kear’s 2022 roster – which includes new recruits Dec Patton, Samy Kibula and Elliot Hall.

DFJ has spoken of his determination to kick on further next year and pays tribute to the support he has received at the club.

“I am buzzing to be staying here, Bradford has become a home to me it is the longest I have been at a club since I started playing so I am delighted to get it over the line,” said Foggin-Johnston, who is sponsored by Dave Green and Anne Fish.

“I have started to show some consistency, get more game time and get over the line a few times and it has done me a world of good.

“It has helped my confidence levels and helped the coaches get more confidence in me too and that is what it is all about, I had a tough run and covid took a year off the chance for me to cement my place in the team.

“But this year we have done better as a team, I feel like I have done better too and I just want to improve year on year, as long as I keep improving I am good to go.

“The fans and my sponsors are a massive reason as to why I have stayed, Dave and Anne are class and I have built a great relationship with them, I have met some great people and want to keep doing so.

“Now next year the aim is to get further, we came up shorter than we should’ve and no one is more frustrated than the players so next year we need to push on and get where we deserve to be.”

Bradford boss Kear praised DFJ’s attitude and resilience – insisting next year’s squad will mean all places are once again up for grabs with ‘greater competition’.

“He grasped his opportunity when it came, he went from being on the outer, continued to work hard at training and when he got the opportunity he put his best foot forward on a consistent basis,” said Kear, who is sponsored by Bradford Bulls Banter.

“You have to admire him for doing that and consequently he has been offered a new deal and I am delighted he is staying.

“There will be more competition for places next year and it will keep everyone on their toes, people cannot think all they have to do is turn up because that will not be the case.”
