KEAR PREVIEWS DERBY DAY

BRADFORD Bulls Head Coach John Kear has previewed this weekend’s crucial clash against Halifax Panthers, as the race for the playoffs intensifies.

Kear has called on his players to show a response after they narrowly lost out to unbeaten Featherstone, as they look to complete a league double over Halifax after defeating the Panthers 27-26 back in April.

Jordan Lilley repeating his drop goal abilities that he showed in 2019, by scoring the winning point that earned Bradford their first win of the season.

The Bradford boss knows his players have to be at their best to gain any chance of a victory over their fierce West Yorkshire rivals.

“We’ve looked at the Featherstone game and highlighted sections we are disappointed with, especially the 20 minutes after half time”, said Kear, who is sponsored by Bradford Bulls Banter.

“We didn’t nail those first 15 minutes and get the defensive side correct and that allowed Featherstone back in the game, we know we can play a lot better.

“Halifax are a very competitive side and a good defensive unit; we have a really tough game in what will be an old-fashioned West Yorkshire derby.

“They are playing really well no doubt about it, when you win seven games in a row you’re doing something right.

“With people like Scott Grix and Liam Harris pulling the strings they are looking very accomplished.

“If we aren’t at our game from minute one to minute eighty we will know about it, Halifax like playing Bradford and their fans love it too, they will fan the embers to the fire and we will have to be at our best to get anything from the game.”
