Matthew has made rapid progress since signing for the Bulls from Saracens RUFC. He has represented England at Rugby Union at all levels up to Under 19’s and was a member of the England Academy Squad to Tour Australia and New Zealand scoring two tries in the ‘Test’ Match in Australia which gave the England side their first ever victory on Australian soil. Last season was his best for the club and after spending time at Castleford on loan he went onto make 17 appearances for the Bulls, scoring 4 tries.
Matthew Cook represented England at all levels up to under-19s in rugby union and up to under-18s in Rugby League. he played his early Rugby League with Bedford Swifts and was playing as a Junior with both London Broncos and Sarecens RUFC. It was from Saracens that he joined the Bulls in late 2003
In 2005, Matt made his debut and made several appearances off the bench and in 2006 he started off well and even got the Man of the Match award for his display in the home game against Hull FC in the Challenge Cup. Unfortunately this was his last appearance for over three months due to a shoulder injury and he didn't make his comeback until the back end of the season were he finished the year with a flourish of games.
In 2007 he established a regular bench spot and made his first starting game against Leed Rhinos in the very controversial Millenium Magic match. Unfortunately Matt was ruled out for another three months due to an injury to his wrist but, like the year before, he managed to come back to finish the season with another string of games off the bench.
In 2008 he played four games of the bench during the Easter period before going to the Castleford Tigers on loan. His loan was short lived when he got called back after just one month and he finished the season strongly at Bradford by gaining a regular bench spot and starting four consecutive games.
