Manase was born in Sydney and started his career with South Sydney in 2005. He joined the North Queensland Cowboys in 2009 before joining Parramatta Eels midway through 2010. Whilst there he impressed Coach Stephen Kearney, who was more than happy to recommend him to Mick Potter when the Bulls were seeking a replacement for Andy Lynch. Manase was named in the 2008 World Cup training squads for both New Zealand and Tonga and ultimately went on to represent Tonga in the World Cup that year.
