Wayne Godwin joined from Hull FC at the start of 2008 and his enthusiasm and work rate has impressed the Bradford fans. The former Castleford hooker spent two-years at the JJB Stadium, before moving to Hull. Wayne missed fifteen weeks of last season after sustaining a broken leg at Wigan in March. He came back strongly and was one of the form players in the side as the Bulls won six of their last seven games.
Wayne Godwin was born in Pontefract and started his professional career with Castleford, joining them from his local club Knottingley Rockware. He made his debut in 2001 and went on to play 63 games for the Tigers for whom he scored 18 tries and kicked 56 goals, 184 points.
At the start of the 2005 season Wayne signed a two-year deal with Wigan after Castleford were relegated from Super League and he played Hooker at the JJB, competeing for the spot with Terry Newton. Wayne made 47 apperances for the Warriors before he signed for Hull as deputy to Richard Swain at the start of the 2007 season. Things didn't work out for him at the KC Stadium and he made only 16 apperances for the Airlie Birds before the Bulls secured him for the 2008 season.
Wayne has proved very popular with the Bulls supporters and was very disappointed to break his leg at Wigan last March. He came back strongly and an injury to Terry Newton saw him as the only recognised Hooker in the squad. He relished the opportunity and was one of the form players in the side at the end of the year. He is looking forward to contesting the Hooking role with Heath L'Estrange this year. Wayne has also represented England on two occasions.
