CHEV WALKER’s sole focus for 2015 is fixed on helping Bradford Bulls make an immediate return to Super League – after today agreeing a new one-year deal with the club.

The 31-year-old, who has also represented Leeds Rhinos and Hull KR in Super League, will offer versatility and experience for head coach James Lowes next term.

But forward Walker admits he and his team-mates will have to quickly adapt to life in the Kingstone Press Championship.

“Confidence has really affected us this year but I believe, in 2015, we will be able to grow with a much bigger squad in place,” said Walker, who is proudly sponsored by George and Amanda Watts.

“We have shown over the past few weeks that when you are able to go out there and enjoy your rugby, you can achieve big things.

“The Championship is very different and I know certain aspects, such as the ruck speed, will be slower, though it is a challenge we, as a group, are relishing.

“It will be a little new and will certainly prove a strong competition, but we will not allow that to stop us achieving our aims.

“We have dropped out of Super League but our goal is clear and quite obvious really, we want to earn promotion at the first attempt.

“I think the squad is shaping up really well and firmly believe we will be a force next year.”

Walker, who enjoyed a spell in the 15-man code with Bath, has been sidelined since the end of last month, nursing a hand injury sustained against Huddersfield Giants.

He admits repaying the faith of the Bulls is a part of his motivation for next season, with the one-time Great Britain international insisting he wants to help nurture Bradford stars of the future.

“For me, firstly, it is a matter of paying the club back for the faith showed in me and, secondly, it is about helping Bradford get back into Super League – where they belong,” explained the Leeds-born back-rower

“I have already declared how much I love the place and am looking forward to what should be an exciting journey.

“My personal aim is to help steer the ship and offer experience to the younger lads ahead of next year.”

The Bulls return to action on Sunday August 31, taking on Tetley's Challenge Cup finalists Castleford Tigers at the Mend-a-Hose Jungle (kick-off 3.30pm).

Tickets for the tie are now on sale, priced at £19 (adults) and £11 (concessions), with 'swaps' available for junior season-ticket holders – from the Provident Stadium Ticket Office.

Return coach travel is also available for just £10, with coaches departing the Provident Stadium from 1.00pm.
