BRADFORD Bulls are delighted to announce the signing of State of Origin star Dane Nielsen, who has agreed a deal which will keep him at the Provident Stadium until the end of next season.
‘Danger’ Nielsen, 30, has spent his entire career playing in the NRL, having appeared for Cronulla Sharks, Melbourne Storm, New Zealand Warriors and, most recently, St George Illawarra Dragons.
An ex-NRL Grand Finalist, three-quarter Nielsen has previously represented Queensland and the Indigenous All Stars.
He is due to arrive in the UK later this week, once his visa application has been approved, and Bulls head coach James Lowes is delighted to have secured the Mackay-born talent's services.
“I expect Dane to make a huge impact for us, he is raring to go and is already in good shape,” said Lowes, who is sponsored in memory of Joyce Dobby.
“He will bring a wealth of experience, having played at the highest level for the past nine years or so.
“Obviously we will assess him when he arrives but he certainly isn’t coming to train. He is here to play and we have signed him to play in the centres.
“There is a wealth of competition for places out wide but perhaps what we are lacking is a little experience – and he will certainly bring it.
“I expect him to be a strong character around the place, giving us some real leadership during what is an exciting, yet crucial part of our campaign.”
Phoenix Gates & Metal Fabrications have kindly agreed to sponsor Nielsen for the remainder of the season.

AFTER 23 breathtaking rounds, the regular season is finally over and we now know who we will face and where we will face them in the inaugural Super 8s.
The First:Utility Super League’s bottom four and the Kingstone Press Championship’s top four will comprise the eight-team mini league, starting next month.
Each team will meet each other once, with the top three guaranteeing themselves places in Super League next season.
Fourth will then meet fifth in the ‘Million Pound Game’ to determine who joins them. The loser on the other hand, will join sixth, seventh and eighth in the Kingstone Press Championship for 2016.
By securing a top-two finish in the sport’s second tier, the Bulls have earned themselves home fixtures against the teams that finished ninth and eleventh in First:Utility Super League – Widnes Vikings and Salford Red Devils.
James Lowes’ men will travel to face Hull Kingston Rovers and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, who finished the season tenth and bottom, respectively.
Bradford’s third and final away fixture will be at the home of Kingstone Press Championship League Leaders Leigh Centurions – who eventually won the season-long race for top spot last Wednesday.
The Championship’s third and fourth-placed sides, Sheffield Eagles and Halifax, will be making the trip to the Provident Stadium, Odsal – where they have both already lost this season.
Confirmation of the Super 8s fixture will be unveiled at 10.00am on Wednesday!
