BULLS SNAP UP FORMER ROBINS FORWARD

10 Feb 2016

BRADFORD Bulls are delighted to reveal the capture of Rhys Lovegrove on a one-month trial.

The former Hull KR forward joins the Bulls after leaving London Broncos having previously spent just under a decade at Craven Park.

The 28-year-old Australian made over 130 appearances for Hull KR in the Super League over a seven year period in Humberside.

“Rhys brings a lot of experience to the middle, whether he plays front row or loose forward,” said James Lowes, who is sponsored by In Memory of Joyce Dobby.

“He is a tough player who plays the game in a very physical manner and he’ll add that to the squad.

“He’ll bring his toughness and experience to the pack and add quality amongst the battle for places.

“We’ve said if quality became available we’d add it to our squad, and with Rhys I feel we’ve done exactly that.”

CARO DELIGHTED TO GET THE SEASON UNDERWAY

09 Feb 2016

HAT-TRICK hero, Omari Caro helped Bradford Bulls get off to the perfect start in the new season with a 22-12 win at the weekend.

The Jamaican winger scored two tries in the first half and one in the second, as the Bulls beat Featherstone Rovers in their first game of the 2016 Kingstone Press Championship on Sunday.

After featuring in both pre-season friendlies against Leeds Rhinos and Castleford Tigers, Caro was thrilled to finally get the new season up and running.

“It was amazing to get the 2016 season underway,” said Caro, who is sponsored by Jennifer Bennison.

“It has been a long pre-season and we’ve been waiting months to finally get back playing, so it felt really good to start the season, especially in front of our fans.

“I think we were a bit nervous on Sunday, as we wanted to put in a good performance and get the first game out the way.

“As we progress through the campaign you’ll soon see our style of play come along.

“We’ve got a few players to come back from injury and they will create more competition for places, which will be great for our team cohesion as we move forward in the year.”

MATHERS PLEASED WITH DEBUT PERFORMANCE

08 Feb 2016

NEW signing Richie Mathers made a strong start to his Bradford Bulls career after making his debut in the 22-12 win over Featherstone Rovers on Sunday.

The two-time Challenge Cup winner started at full-back in the Bulls’ opening game of the 2016 Kingstone Press Championship.

Mathers displayed his vast experience during the victory as he orchestrated the defence into try saving positions to deny Featherstone.

“I was excited to get out there and it felt really good to be playing again.

“It was great to play with the lads, as well as to play in front of the Bulls fans, who were fantastic throughout the game.

“Obviously, there’s a few areas to improve at this stage, but I thought we played really well, especially in the second half, where we got some line speed.

“There are a lot of clever players in the team; Lee Gaskell, Danny Addy, Adam O’Brien, to name a few, and it’s about learning the combinations with them at the moment.

“Everybody is striving to get this club back into the Super League and there’s a lot of talent in this team to get us there. So, if I can add the missing 1%, then I’ll be more than happy.”
