PROCEEDS from the Bradford Bulls Foundation’s upcoming Poker Evening will be donated to support the family of Danny Jones, who passed away on Sunday.

The Poker Evening makes up a part of ‘Robbie’s Big 10’ – a Bulls Foundation initiative running throughout the course of 2015.

Jones, 29, collapsed after being substituted during Keighley Cougars’ Kingstone Press League 1 clash with London Skolars and was treated by the match doctor and paramedics at the ground before being taken to the Royal Free Hospital.

Despite efforts to resuscitate the Cougars’ stand-off, Jones sadly passed away.

He tragically leaves behind wife, Liz, and five-month old twins.

In just 72 hours, more than £50,000 has been raised to support Jones’ family.

Monday’s Poker Evening, being held in conjunction between the Bradford Bulls Foundation (Charity No: 1106608) and Grosvenor Casino, Bradford, was originally designed to raise funds for The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice (Charity No: 1110457) and the Foundation itself.

But Trustees have now agreed that the Foundation’s fundraising split will be donated to the Danny Jones Fund, meaning 100% of all proceeds will be donated.

This event provides the perfect opportunity for Bradford supporters to get behind two incredible causes by joining us for what will be an action-packed evening of fun.

Bulls chief executive and Foundation trustee Robbie Hunter-Paul said: “Sunday’s news hit everyone like a thunderbolt, it was truly shocking and it has certainly shook the sport of rugby league.

“Although I didn’t personally know Danny, having played against him on numerous occasions, it certainly brings it a lot closer to home.

“The fact he leaves behind his wife and baby twins is utterly devastating.

“The rugby league community has rallied, raising huge funds for to support his family and we as a club and the Bulls Foundation play our part in that.

“Funds which have been and are due to be raised to support the Bulls Foundation will now be handed to the Rugby League Cares Benevolent Fund, which has already raised over £50,000 through the JustGiving page launched this week.

“This event provides our fans to support two fantastic causes, in Danny Jones’ family and The Forget Me Not Hospice, which supports families throughout our district.

“And I would urge supporters to hurry and secure tickets for what promises to be a fantastic event."

James Lowes’ entire first-team squad will be present, allowing you to mingle with your favourite Bulls players and face them on the poker table!

Places are limited, however, so to support the family of Danny Jones and The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, while enjoying a unique evening with us at Grosvenor Casino, Bradford, CLICK HERE or call 08448 711 490 NOW!

SHEFFIELD Eagles head coach Mark Aston believes the Bulls are on course to achieve promotion this season.

Speaking following Sunday’s game between Bradford and Sheffield, which saw James Lowes’ men romp to a 46-12 success, the Eagles chief paid credit to the Provident Stadium outfit’s progress.

He commented on the Bulls’ recent upturn in form, insisting it will be Lowes’ men on top come the end of the 2015 Kingstone Press Championship campaign.

“I think Bradford played the best they have all season today (Sunday),” said Aston, shortly after the full-time hooter – in his post-match press conference.

“It would certainly be very close between Bradford and Leigh, because Leigh are starting to crack.

“Bradford are going this way and Leigh another. At the moment, Leigh are probably a tad in front of them.

“But, by the end of the season, who will get promoted? I think you would probably put your house on it being Bradford.”

“It is interesting because Bradford are hitting form at the right time.

“Lee Gaskell is the best half-back in the competition, without a shadow of a doubt.

“It is credit (to Bradford) that he is still here and that they have kept him.

“There are some great players here and some good young kids. It is only a matter of time before it all clicks.”

Lowes’ Bulls return to Kingstone Press Championship action this Sunday, taking on Whitehaven at the Recreation Ground.

Tickets for the round-twelve contest are still available and can be purchased by CLICKING HERE.
