NEW SIGNING Jamal Fakir has vowed to do everything within his power to ensure he makes an impact at The Provident Stadium.

The towering front-rower was this morning unveiled as Bradford Bulls’ first new signing, at a packed press conference, which saw new owner and chairman Marc Green speak for the first time since completing a takeover of the club last week.

On Monday, Moroccan-born Frenchman Fakir put pen to paper on a deal – which will see him don the famous red, amber and black until at least the end of this year – and arrived in the country less than 24 hours later.

The former Catalan Dragons star has described his move as a “new beginning”, insisting he will lay everything on the line as the Bulls kick-start their First Utility Super League fightback.

“I am ready to give 100 per-cent for this fantastic club, nothing else matters now,” said Fakir.

“I feel as though I have turned the page by coming to play for such a big name in rugby league.

“I am very happy to be here and am excited about what the future might hold for me here.

“I have plenty of hard work ahead but I am ready for the challenges ahead. Over the course of the season, I intend to make a big impact here.

“Bradford have had a tough start to the season but Francis (Cummins) has done a fantastic job.

“I am confident that things are going to turn around. I believe we will finish the season very well.

“Two teams have to go down this year and I am certain Bradford will not be one of them.”

Fakir, who is being proudly sponsored by Stuart Readyhough at Eura Audit UK, is likely to be thrown straight into the action this weekend when the Bulls welcome Oldham to The Provident Stadium.

The Tetley’s Challenge Cup round four contest could provide a competitive debut for the France international.

And Fakir is relishing the prospect of assisting Francis Cummins’ side’s bid of progression into the competition’s last 16.

“I arrived last night and training starts first thing tomorrow morning,” added Fakir.

“There is a good chance I will play this weekend, which is great.

“I just want to get out there and begin the next chapter of my career.”

There is still time for you to secure your seat for Sunday’s contest, with tickets available for The Provident Stand only priced at £10 (adults and concessions) and £5 (juniors).
