HEAD coach James Lowes is preparing to welcome back star man Lee Gaskell ahead of this weekend’s Super 8s opener against Sheffield Eagles.

The 24-year-old was enjoying a fine year, having scored 17 tries in as many games, before a broken jaw during June’s rout of Doncaster prematurely ended his regular-season campaign.

But after being passed fit to feature last week, following three weeks back in full training, Gaskell is readying himself for competitive action once again.

And the ex-Salford man is confident the Bulls will make a “flying start”.

“Watching from the sidelines has been extremely frustrating and I can’t wait to get back out there,” said Gaskell, who is sponsored by Hudson Foster Financial Services.

“We are looking to make a flying start this weekend, we do not want to be chasing come week four or five of the Super 8s.

“We need 80-minute performances now – for the next seven weeks.

“That is what we have been working towards all season and we are going to go out all guns blazing, leaving nothing on the pitch.

Without playmaker Gaskell, the Bulls suffered a narrow defeat at the hands of Sunday’s opponents Sheffield last month.

However, the stand-off insists he and his teammates will not go into their Qualifier opener focused on revenge.

“We are not holding any grudges against anyone and are not trying to beat them because they beat us,” added Gaskell.

“We are going into the Super 8s trying to beat everyone.

“It is a case of taking it week by week and not looking at any game in particular.

“They are all going to be hard games. The games against the Championship sides are the ones we should be winning.

“Against the Super League sides, we are going to push them for 80 minutes and try to get what we need.”

FORMER Bradford favourite Jamie Langley insists the Bulls’ season “starts now”, with the opening game of the Super 8s just FIVE days away.

The back-rower made over 250 appearances for the Bulls in 12 seasons at the Provident Stadium, before joining Hull Kingston Rovers in 2014.

After one season with the Robins, the former Great Britain international dropped down a division to sign for the Eagles – who finished third in the Kingstone Press Championship after another excellent campaign under Mark Aston.

Bradford and Sheffield have shared the spoils in their two regular-season meetings in 2015.

The Bulls claimed victory on home soil back in May, before the Eagles exacted revenge at the Keepmoat Stadium last month.

James Lowes’ men play host to the South Yorkshire side on Sunday – in round one of The Qualifiers.

“We are really looking forward to it, as the pressure is off for us now,” said Langley.

“The big thing for us was to make the top four and qualify for the Super 8s. We can go into it with no expectations and no pressure.

“We will probably be able to play our best rugby because of that. Bradford will be looking to kick on and really push for the top four.

“So there is a little bit more pressure on the Bulls going into this. They are getting a few key men back, which will be a big thing for them.

“This is what they have been building towards all season.

“It all starts now for them, whereas we can just go in with no expectation and just really enjoy ourselves.”

You can ensure you don’t miss a minute of The Qualifiers by securing a Route 66 pass TODAY, meaning you will be able to enjoy our FANTASTIC 4 home games for just £66!

CLUB officials have today confirmed that James Lowes’ Bradford Bulls will don their alternate strip for next weekend’s game against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

The eye-catching kit, featuring various shades of green, made its debut when the Bulls overcame neighbours Halifax earlier this season – at the Summer Bash.

And on Saturday week – for one last time – it will feature again at Belle Vue Stadium as Lowes’ men tackle First Utility Super League’s Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in round two of the Super 8s – The Qualifiers.

We want to take the ‘Green Machine’, which took over Blackpool’s Bloomfield Road earlier this year, to Wakefield and pack out the Wildcats’ home ground.

“The atmosphere generated at the Summer Bash was quite simply unforgettable and showed what incredible support this club has behind it,” said a club spokesperson.

“The boys will be back in green next weekend and we want to see as many of our supporters as possible inside Belle Vue for what will be a massive 80 minutes of rugby league.

“We have today received our allocation of tickets for the tie and would urge people to secure their place as soon as possible.”

Tickets for the Saturday August 15 clash are NOW on sale and can be purchased online – by CLICKING HERE.

Admission is priced at £20 (adults), £14 (concessions) and £9 (juniors), while ‘swaps’ are also available for youth and junior 1863 Members – FREE of charge.

BRADFORD Bulls are delighted to bring supporters one FINAL CHANCE to get their hands on limited-edition official Armed Forces playing jerseys - as worn by members of James Lowes' squad during the club’s victory over Batley Bulldogs in June.

The shirt was specifically designed to be worn by every member of the Bulls' team over Armed Forces Weekend, in a bid to raise funds to support the fantastic work being done by the Royal British Legion - while paying tribute to our armed forces.

Only 250 replicas were produced and they sold out inside 48 hours, meaning this is the only way fans can get their hands on one of these phenomenal pieces of official Bradford Bulls merchandise.

The shirts of Danny Addy and Matty Blythe raised almost £1,000 for the Royal British Legion.

The next eight made available include shirts of Danny Williams, Dale Ferguson, Jay Pitts, Adam Henry, Chev Walker, Ryan Shaw, Steve Crossley and James Mendeika.

The jerseys will come as worn and have been framed and signed by the Bulls stars.

The highest bidder will also receive a certificate of authenticity and the framed jersey will feature an action shot from the game itself.

The reserve price is set at just £99.99, to cover costs, with all proceeds being donated to the Royal British Legion.

These eight fantastic jerseys are live on eBay now!
