BRADFORD Bulls head coach James Lowes was “delighted” with his team’s performance in the 68-6 thrashing of Hunslet Hawks yesterday.
Lowes had been unhappy with recent performances and the Bulls responded in style over the weekend, with the Super 8s fast approaching.
“I was not concerned going into yesterday’s game, as there is no panic in what we do”, said Lowes, who is sponsored in memory of Joyce Dobby.
“We had a poor day at the office on Wednesday and people have just got to accept that it happens in the game.
“Yesterday, I was just focused on us and what we can do.
“We came into the game with the right mentality and took away the unforced errors we had on Wednesday, which was a massive factor in why we got beat.
“As a result, we had more energy with the ball and had less defending to do.
“It just goes to show what can happen with a few changes to the way we play.”
The league-leading Bulls were in rampant form as they took apart the Hunslet hosts, especially the reshuffled back-line which ran in 11 of Bradford’s 13 tries.
Head coach Lowes paid particular tribute to his new-look half-back pairing.
“Our attack was pretty good,” added Lowes.
“Jake (Mullaney) played off the back of some quality go forward, which helped massively.
“He was not down to play. He was on the bench and I was going to feed him back in but Adrian (Purtell) pulled out at the last minute and he stepped up.
“He is a good player and he slotted into that half-back role well.
“He can play in the halves or at full-back but I think wherever he plays, his attacking role is similar.
“You have got to give Danny (Addy) some credit today, I thought he controlled the second half.
“The mentality behind what he was trying to do was bang on.
“He was a big factor in how our game went and Jake complimented him very well with his running game.”
Bradford return to Kingstone Press Championship action on Sunday, taking on Sheffield Eagles at the Keepmoat Stadium.

A VIRTUOSO performance from Jake Mullaney steered the Bulls to an emphatic victory over Hunslet Hawks at the South Leeds Stadium.
The diminutive Australian was unstoppable on his return from injury, scoring four tries and having a hand in almost everything the Bulls did well in a much improved team performance.
The convincing win retained the Bulls’ position at the top of Kingstone Press Championship and guaranteed James Lowes’ men a top-two finish come the end of the season.
