GOLDEN POINT SEES BULLS ACADEMY GO OUT

A Golden Point Drop Goal by Wigan Scrum Half Sam Powell in the fifth minute of Extra Time saw the Bulls cruelly go out of the Academy Championship at the penultimate hurdle.

In a see - saw game the Bulls looked to have the game won at 22-18 but the home side took advantge of a strange refereeing decision - one of many on the day - to gain the position to score too wide out for the conversion.

The game went into Extra Time and the Bulls had two Drop Goal attempts that went wide before the Refeee intervened once more, adjudging James Donaldson to have stolen the ball one on one after the tackle had been completed.  Wigan took full advantage of that decision and from good field position Powell cooly struck the winner that takes Wigan to Wakefield Wildcats next Saturday.

It was cruel look on the Bulls who had fought back from an 18 - 4 half time deficit to lead 22 -18 going into the final ten minutes.  Second half tries to Ady Raw, James Donaldson and Danny Addy were all goaled by Joe Wardle to add to george Burgess' trendous first half individual effort but it was all to no avail as Wigan went through at the death.
