ACADEMY AND WILDCATS FIGHT OUT DRAW
An exciting game, in front of a big crowd at the Grattan Stadium, saw the Bulls Academy fight out a 26 all draw with top of the table Wakefield Wildcats.
The Bulls fielded a side containing only two players, Danny Addy and Tom Olbison, not qualified for Under 18's next season whilst Wakefield, with an older squad fielded only three who could qualify next year and it was the greater experience of the Wildcats that got them back into the game after they were down 18-4 at the break.
The Bulls opened the scoring through Centre Rob Hawthorne and had further tries to George Burgess and the increasingly impressive Adam O'Brien, who outpaced the Wakefield defence in a thirty metre run to the line. Wakefield had only a solitary try to centre Harrington to show for their first half efforts but they aren't top of the table for nothing and they took the game by the scruff of the neck after the break. Two tires to Dale Morton and one to Jonathan Brayston, all converted by the latter, saw them take the lead only for Danny Addy to force his way over from dummy half to restore the Bulls advantage. The Wildcats came back again and Scrum Half Matt Wildie repeated Addy's feat to give them a two point lead with only five minutes remaining.
The Bulls were not done and were pressing strongly when Wakefield were penalised under pressure in front of the posts and Addy kicked the two points on offer to leave the scores level in the final minute.
