ACADEMY WIN AT WIDNES
Two tries to winger Ethan Hawksworth helped the Bulls Academy to a 30 - 12 victory in apalling conditions at Widnes.
Driving rain and a strong wind meant it was a tough afternoon for both sides with the Bulls playing into the teeth of a strong wind in the first half. They quickly got into their stride when Centre Robert Hawthorne used his strength to cross in the corner. Ethan Hawksworth then went over for his first try before Hooker Jake Senior scored a typical try from dummy half. Such was the strength of the wind that Joe Wardle could not add any of the conversions.
Widnes went over for a try but on the stroke of half time, Hawksworth had his second try under the posts for Donaldson to convert to make the score 18-6 to the Bulls at the break.
Strong Bulls pressure in the second half saw Liam Kay cross before Widnes had their second try against the run of play. With torrential ran falling James Donaldson wrapped up the scoring with a try at the side of the posts, which he converted to add to the one he scored after Kay's try.
