Match Report

Facing a side the Bulls previously posted 124 points against in their previous, Bradford ran away with another emphatic victory over West Wales Raider’s today – with a 104-0 scoreline.

Traveling to Wales the night before to avoid complications and keep John Kear’s men in prime condition ready for battle, the red amber and black men were in control throughout the game.

Stamping their competitive edge down on the home side early on, Bradford went on to score nine tries in the opening half to give a convincing lead going into the halftime break – followed by a barrage of more points in the second period.

Breaking the whitewash on the stroke of the second minute with Dalton Grant, the early points were the platform for Bradford’s overshadowing performance.

Winning a penalty to give the visitors excellent field position, Gregg McNally took control of the attack and flew a perfectly weighted cut-out pass to the Welsh winger to stroll in.

Just minutes later, Callum Bustin was on hand to set up Elliot Minchella with an easy try. The prop forward broke the line and pulled the fullback away from the second row, feeding him the ball to stroll over.

After setting the foundations for the second try of the game, Bustin was rewarded with his own four pointer after Joe Keyes offloaded to the big man on the face of the line.

Penalties favoured the Bulls once more for Ethan Ryan’s first of two tries. Liam Kirk fought in the tackle to give his side excellent field position – followed by Tuoyo Egodo’s smart centre play. The quick tap caught the Raiders off guard, giving Ryan room to make his way past the pylon.

With the Raiders looking depleted early on in the game, Minchella won the ball in a one on one tackle and shot to the line for an easy brace.

Points were being thrown on to the scoreboard and the Bulls did not let up as Super League man, Jy Hitchcox made his grand return to the Bulls and in great style.

The centre pulled out the dancing feet to beat four men in the right flank and running across the grain, beating the final tackler and scoring next to the sticks.

A perfect opportunity to rotate the squad ahead of the playoff fixtures, Steve Crossley made an appearance off the bench.

After only a few minutes on the pitch, captain fantastic put the pressure on the Raiders’ fullback, forcing him to make a costly error and drop the ball, allowing him to scoop it up and score.

With one prop on the scoresheet, it was only fitting to add another.

Dane Chisholm’s delayed pass to Ross Peltier on the face of the Raiders’ line cut the opponents open, giving the Jamaican international the ability to walk over the whitewash.

Moments before the half-time hooter rang out, McNally scored under the sticks after Minchella broke the line and dumped the egg into the hands of the fullback.

Refusing to let up the pressure, the determined Bulls posted an early try with academy star Matthew Storton. The second row’s run caught the home side unaware, bursting through and touching down under the crossbar for his first professional try.

On the final tackle the Raiders sent the ball down to Ryan, who broke the line to set up a fantastic team try and contender for try of the month.

The winger beat two would be tacklers, passed inside to Chisholm, who in turn sent it to Lilley who shifted it out to Grant to touch down.

Directly from the restart, Hitchcox took the ball from dummy-half on the second tackle and made his way down the right flank to score.

It wouldn’t be a Bradford Bulls game without an Ethan Ryan special.

After being awarded a penalty for being held down due do another fearsome Liam Kirk charge, the fast play of the ball from the scum saw Ryan miraculously dive over for four.

Returning to action from an ankle injury, Liam Johnson set Gregg McNally up for an easy brace as he pinned his ears back, charged through two defenders and dumped right to the fullback for an easy try.

After scoring himself, the former Ireland international broke the line from the 50m mark, showcasing that Super League talent to pass to the left and render the full back useless as Chisholm placed the ball down for his 15th try of the season.

Closing out the game on a high, Hitchcox flew over in the corner in eccentric flair as he shovelled up the ball from dummy half to make his finishing move.
