Match Report

THIS afternoon, the Bradford Bulls were stunned in a crucial bottom of the table battle, losing to Dewsbury Rams by 38 points to 12.

As the Bulls and Rams locked horns in one of the most physical contests of the season, Dewsbury came out on top of the fiery affair.

The home side took early control of the game, forcing repeat sets just outside the Bradford in goal area. The Rams pressure amounted to James Glover latching onto a grubber kick under the sticks on the five-minute mark.

Bradford fought back with severe intent, dominating the following twenty minutes. The Bulls pried open the Rams defence with back to back sets, as Ross Peltier in particular, proved to be a handful for the Dewsbury defence.

Iliess Macani scored the first Bradford try of the afternoon connecting with Jordan Lilley’s kick, outmuscling his opposing defender and stretching out in the tackle to touch down.

Following Macani, James Bentley scored five minutes afterwards, as the Bradford pressure continued.

A break from Vila Halafihi took the Bulls to the edge of the Rams try line, enabling Bentley to break from dummy half and barge his way over.

After Bradford’s period of dominance, the home side began to find their feet. Scoring through Day and Squires before the half time hooter.

The Rams momentum from the closing seconds of the first half, carried through to the second.

Neil Jukes’ men kept Bradford to a scoreless second half, and with the help of a controversial referee decision, kicked off their supremacy through Walshaw in the opening three minutes.

The Bulls faced further set-backs in the second half, as starting half back Joe Keyes was taken off after a hit to the head off the ball, that went astray from the officials eyes.

James Glover stepped up once more knocking through a penalty kick for his side, edging the Rams further ahead.

The Rams new found confidence led to tries from Squires, Hallett and Glover, striking before the full-time hooter.
