In this week’s Bulls Eye, Head Coach Francis Cummins looks ahead to Sunday’s Super League game with Warrington Wolves at the Halliwell Jones Stadium

FRANCIS CUMMINS

WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF WARRINGTON?

“They are one of those sides who are probably a little bit frustrated with how they are travelling at the moment.  They are winning but are probably not playing great. I am hoping they don’t click against us!! The experience they have got and their recent Grand Final and Challenge Cup appearances man they know how to win.

I am just looking forward to coming up against another of the perceived top sides.  We know we need to bring our best game out because we didn’t against Wigan and we didn’t against Saints.  We have to be at our best.  WE know they have not got Lee Briers but they have some great halves in Ratchford and Myler and some really good players in every position.  They have great strength in depth and have quality right across it. ”

YOU GET TO COME UP AGAINST ONE OF YOUR MENTORS.

“Tony Smith has been a big influence on my career.  As a player he put the finishing touches to me and to Leeds and took them up a level but also when I retired and got the opportunity to Coach with him and Brian McDermott  it was a great  apprenticeship, not only in Rugby League but also in how to manage people.  Things like how you influence people and make them better and how to invest in you.  I am indebted to the time I spent there under Tony.

I steal things from everyone and I know I am still using things I got from him and other Coaches.”

SQUAD NEWS

Bulls Coach Francis Cummins will name his squad on Friday lunchtime but Brett Kearney, Nick Scruton, Elliot Kear and Matt Diskin, who all missed the game at Rochdale, will be available.  Matty Blythe has a chance of playing against his parent club as he is recovering from a back injury.

MILESTONES

ELLIOT KEAR needs 4 points for a career total of 150.   He has scored 29 tries, kicked 15 goals for a points’ total of 146 in 76 games for the Bulls, Crusaders RL, Hunslet and Wales.

JAMIE LANGLEY needs 1 appearance to reach 250 for the Bulls.  He has made 190 starting appearances and 59 substitute appearances since making his debut at Wakefield in 2002.  He has scored 39 tries for a total of 156 points
