MATCH REPORT

The Bradford Bulls failed to consolidate their recent turn of form and leapfrog their opponents in the engage Super League, going down to Hull FC by 14 points to 28 at Odsal Stadium, Bradford.

The Black and Whites ran in tries from Richard Horne, Sam Moa and Joe Westerman to establish a 16-0 lead after 24 minutes.

Bradford fashioned a spirited rally to hit back with two tries in quick succession from Shad Royston shortly before half-time but Hull added further scores through Kirk Yeaman and Craig Fitzgibbon after the break to move three points clear of Mick Potter's side.

The Bulls made a bright and purposeful start which saw them pin Hull back towards their own line for a prolonged period.

Some fine handling saw the ball pass through several players but the move ended when Patrick Ah Van knocked on from Brett Kearney's offload.

Two minutes later the hosts threatened again when Marc Herbert's lofted kick into the left corner invited Royston to ground the ball, but Reece Lyne did well to clear the danger.

Hull led in the 15th minute when Yeaman broke down the left flank and sent Horne clear to cross the line.

Danny Tickle converted and the visitors soon had their second when Sam Obst made a fine break only to see his intended pass for Mark O'Meley knocked on by Kearney.

However, the visitors kept the ball alive and Moa was on hand to power over the line from close range, with Tickle adding his second goal.

Bulls coach Potter introduced fit-again prop Nick Scruton but it got worse for the home side in the 24th minute when Westerman went over from dummy half in the right corner.

Tickle could not convert from a difficult angle but Hull were dominant and had chances to stretch their advantage before the interval.

However, two minutes before the break Michael Platt's fine burst drew the Hull defence before he slipped in the supporting Royston in the left corner.

Ah Van failed to convert but a flighted kick was caught and grounded by Royston on the stroke of half-time to give Bradford their second try.

Ah Van again faltered with the conversion attempt but the Bulls were back in the game at only 16-8 behind at the break.

But six minutes after the restart, the visitors struck again when Willie Manu's low kick into the left corner was grounded by Yeaman for a try which Tickle converted.

Bradford replied in the 53rd minute when Andy Lynch went over from close range for a try which Ah Van converted.

Both sides had chances which came and went but Hull grabbed their fifth try late on when Fitzgibbon grounded Obst's kick and Tickle landed his fourth goal.
